Lisa Simonis is drawn to the quiet, human stories that shape our lives.
Born in Costa Rica to a Dutch father and Colombian mother, Lisa has lived in New York, Switzerland, Paris and Boston before settling in Edinburgh. Her writing carries this international perspective—curious, calm and always seeking connection.
She began her career with a BFA in Creative Writing, stepped away to pursue academic research and returned to the written word through editorial opportunities with Pass the Mic and Women in Journalism Scotland. Since then, she has contributed regularly to The List, The Scotsman, Scottish Field and Broadway Baby.
Her work spans columns, features and reviews—each rooted in careful observation and a commitment to integrity. Whether writing about a cup of coffee, a dance performance or a neighbourhood ritual, Lisa invites readers into the moment with her—never over-explaining, always allowing space for resonance.
